  • Steam is generated year-round by using a combination of natural gas, coal, and fuel oil at UK’s three heating plants.
  • Steam is distributed through an underground high-pressure steam distribution system to each building and condensate is returned to the plants for reuse.
  • Main uses are for heating, hot water, and other processes such as autoclaves, cooking, humidity control, sterilization, and research.
