About

The Utilities & Energy Management (UEM) department supports the University of Kentucky by delivering reliable, efficient utility services that keep buildings safe, functional, and comfortable for our students, patients, faculty, and staff.

UEM is responsible for the production of steam for heating and chilled water for cooling, the delivery of electricity, domestic water, and natural gas, and the maintenance of stormwater and sanitary sewer systems.

In partnership with Cenergistics since 2016, UEM monitors all major utility consumption through smart metering, energy analytics, and real-time Building Automation System data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings to support sustainable operations.
