At University of Kentucky, recycling is available campus-wide in the residence halls, outdoors, academic and healthcare buildings, and outdoor areas.
UK provides Mixed Recycling allowing you to recycling various paper, plastic, glass, cardboard, metal, and cartons in a single container. In addition, UK offers several specialty recycling options, which require completing a Recycling Request form for collection.
In 2025, the university began sending mixed recycling to Rumpke Waste & Recycling's material recovery facility (MRF) in Cincinnati, OH. This MRF sorts UK's mixed recycling materials before being transported to various facilities in the region to be manufactured into new products.
